Thirty-Four

3–4 minutes

Made it another year around the sun. That’s pretty cool.

While it has not all been sunshine and daisies, it has been a great year. Even the last couple of months have been filled with a jam-packed schedule and changes–the biggest change being a promotion at work. July was very busy seeing family and friends and training with the Marines in North Carolina. Then backing up another month, June was cool because I got to host one of buddies and prepare for a busy summer. And boy has it been busy.

My buddy stopped in for a few days in June and we got to see a country artist perform in an amphitheater created out of an old quarry. It was really cool being in that venue and hanging out. The artist said he used to work in the quarry pumping out water and now he was performing. Kinda crazy!

July was the busiest month of all. It started with a quick trip to Florida to attend a retirement ceremony for one of our ammo officers. Best wishes and congratulations to JD! It was really good to be in Florida again even if it was only for short time. One of my favorite parts was meeting my friend’s new kid and cooking out with the family. A great, relaxing time.

But the relaxation couldn’t last too long. After returning to Nashville, I was immediately packing my bags and heading east. A stop along the way had me back at camp seeing family and camp family. Always love stopping by The Wilds to see its growth, watch camp happen, and catch up with the camp family. This time, however, I got to catch up with my real family too! My brother had a birthday we celebrated together before I was off to be with the Marines for a little over two weeks. And a long two weeks it was.

The training in North Carolina went well. I am proud of the Marines showing out and taking it upon themselves to learn their trade and lead each other to the end of a successful operation. While there was a lot of training, including a swim qualification, there was a little morale boosting fun thrown in there also. We got to visit Fort Macon and have a unit beach day on base. I think beach day was my favorite activity. You couldn’t tell anyone got any sun that evening. . .

As soon as I returned to Tennessee, it was back to races at Ramsey. Every year my team and I celebrate Christmas in July. This year it was at the very end of July due to military training. So on Monday Christmas was upon us and on Tuesday it was gone. And, well, so was I. That’s because the same week I returned to work I was offered a role as the Guest Experience Team Leader here at Ramsey Solutions. It was a whirlwind of a day and unfathomable. I was floored at the opportunity and stoked to be a part of impacting the guest experience somewhere again.

So what does a Guest Experience Team Leader do exactly? I now lead a team in our lobby operations and conduct floor manager duties during live recording of The Ramsey Show. That’s a bit oversimplified, but I suppose there will be more to say as I continue to learn. Excited for this opportunity!

There is a good chance I have missed something or done an injustice in explaining all that has happened this summer. And summer isn’t even technically over! For the praying kind, please pray for me as I continue in this new role. I can only give God the glory for blessing me with the opportunity. Thanks for following along. Until next time: Be strong. Love God. Love others.
