Duty Calls

Another 365 days around the sun. I am thankful for another year of life and another year of this wild ride. It seems like the right time to let all you fine people know that, at this point in time, I am just over a month away from leaving the state of Florida. Duty calls.

Before you bombard me with all the questions, here are the basics:

  • I’m being activated with the Marines
  • I have no clue where I will be for the majority of my activation
  • I am ending my apartment lease
  • I plan on returning to Walt Disney World next year
  • I may be selling my couch. Interested?

I found out I was approved to be activated toward the end of my time in Morocco. I had not heard anything since Morocco until my orders showed up out of the blue. That’s why I don’t know much of anything. But let’s be real, I wouldn’t throw any or all of that information on this medium. If you’re really interested,  call me. #OPSEC

This weekend I am super pumped to celebrate my birthday with camp family. I get to stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge for two nights and see Jessica Mair and kids. After that, it seems like the rest of camp is coming down for vacation (per end of summer tradition). Can’t wait to see everyone! Don’t worry, I will be posting again soon so you can see pictures.

I have been taking leadership classes once a week for the past four weeks at Disney University. All leaders at Disney take this class. It has such a valuable insight into how Walt Disney World operates, opportunities to inspire cast and impact Guests in a leadership capacity, and how to develop as a leader. Marine leadership and Disney leadership are uniquely different yet uniquely the same. In the Marines we don’t have unions or Guest recovery to worry about (haha). Through this class I have learned a lot about myself, my style, and the ways I can be a great leader.

Random bit of info: I am listening to a song I put into iTunes from a CD a long time ago. It’s on my iPhone and apparently that CD was scratched because the song just skipped. On my iPhone. First World Problems for real.

Well, that’s it for now. Feel free to comment questions, but know that I won’t be posting any details online in regards to activation. Thank you to those who are still reading and continue to pray. Definitely need prayers for this time of change and transition. There are a lot of things I have to take care of by myself before I leave Florida. Be looking out for pictures and another post after the weekend. Until next time: Be strong. Love God. Love others.
