Good Experience

The wall. No, not the wall that is in the news all the time. I’m talking about the emotional wall we hit at times. It’s not the wall hit when experiencing culture shock and it’s not a physical wall (although I have run into a physical wall before). This wall is hit when the experience has run its course and you know it is time for change. I have reached my wall here in Honduras. It is time to go home.

Okay, it’s not really time to go home (I have some more time to serve here), but I am ready to leave when the mission here is complete. It is crazy to think about how long I have been here and how time has flown (and sometimes stood still). What an experience it has been. The experience has been good and I have learned a lot. I have also learned that I will never volunteer to return to this Area of Operation (AO). Y’all are going to have to throw some orders in my face if I am to return here.

We have been very busy the past few weeks. There has been a lot of travel, added responsibilities, and various obstacles to hurdle. It has been a great learning experience though! Keeping busy helps the time pass, so I am by no means complaining about it. I welcome it! Let’s pass that time and get out of here!

There are restaurants here on base operated by locals. They’re not too bad, but there is one in particular that I like best. I usually end up eating empanadas there on the weekends. The chef is the owner and is a cool guy. You can say I’m a regular now. He will sometimes host parties with an all you can eat buffet for $12. Good stuff!

A couple weeks ago we had a freak, overnight rain storm (good thing too). You could tell that the rain was needed because not even two days later there was a bunch of grass growing in places we didn’t know it should be. It has rained overnight the last couple of nights, but the rain has been minimal.

The other day I was in Belize and got to experience some incredible things. Granted it was a short visit, but the experience was awesome. First, I got to ride on the back end of a helicopter. Second, I got to see some incredible reefs. Third, I got to see the Great Blue Hole of Belize. Has anyone ever heard of the Great Blue Hole? I had never heard of this thing until the other day. Such a cool experience! Great Blue Hole

Thank you to all the people who have been thinking of me and praying for me. It’s been quite an experience here, but it is time to go home. Thank you also for those who have sent me mail or thought of it. Please DO NOT SEND ANY MAIL from this point forward. The mail system is broken so you will see what you sent before I do. In about three months. Thanks for thinking of me though. That is all for now. I just wanted to share a few things from here. Until next time: Be strong. Love God. Love others.

  1. The Great Blue Hole huh? The picture is stunning. I’m totally looking up this place. I kinda have a fondness for South America after all. Thanks for the update. Sorry about that wall. I hope your emotional tank gets refilled in FL.
