All Glory Be to God

3–4 minutes

“And then they invented the Betty Crocker red velvet cake mix. All glory be to God.” Directly quoting a devotional speaker we had at work, I am reminded that God receives the glory even in the little things. Even in the sad things. Even in the big things. Even in the bad things. Even in the inconvenient things. Even in the unwelcome things. Even in the happiest moments. Even in unplanned meetings. Even in the mundane things. Even in suffering. All glory be to God.

What. A. Fall. Going from summer to fall and into the holidays, time has flown by! It’s been a while since posting so a lot has happened. Back in August I was not only promoted at work, but I was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer 2 in the Marine Corps also. Then we got to celebrate the retirement of one of our Marines. That was a great time.

My new role at Ramsey has provided me with excellent opportunities for learning. People have asked how it’s been going. Well, in all honesty, I haven’t quite established a baseline so it’s hard to say. After being in my new role only a handful of weeks, we were presented with a unique staffing challenge. With that in mind, the new role has been a challenge since, but it has also been good so far. The team is unique and incredible at what they do. We are only successful because they help make things happen. Go team!

September was my home improvement month. With the days still being warm but not miserable, I was able to work on my backyard and other house projects. One of those projects was a new fire pit! Out of four phases I wrote down, I am on Phase 1.5-ish (went out of order). There was a lot of manual digging in Phase 1. Then in Phase 2 I had a plan to build the fire pit. The other phases include covering the dirt with pavers of some sort and building a retaining wall with seating. Well, we’re not there yet but there is a functioning fire pit. So, uh. . . Phase 1.5-ish.

Back in October my town had their annual Goat Festival. Funny enough, one of the best parts was the camel. I live close enough to the city park that I could hear the live music from home. So after visiting the festival and listening to music there, I went home and enjoyed the new fire pit while listening to the live music.

Getting back into the Marine Corps groove, we had a couple of drills back to back. It was great celebrating the achievements of the Marines, those who were promoted, and celebrate the Marine Corps birthday. We ran through downtown Greenville doing what we call a moto run (motivational run) as we shouted through the city. My family was able to join the birthday celebration this year, so that was cool having them. At Ramsey we also did our annual Ramsey Marines birthday celebration. I’m not super young, but I’m still the youngest Marine at work. Feels weird. Oh, and I put together a Marine unit merch website so the Marines can get stuff at their convenience. Now it’s already about the December and Christmas is quickly approaching. I love Christmas. If you haven’t heard the new Christmas album from Phil Wickham, you should check it out. I have it on repeat this year. My December is going to be jam-packed with activity so this weekend is going to be equally busy as I make preparations. Let’s do this thing!

Even in the good and the bad, the expected and unexpected, all glory be to God. Happy Thanksgiving! Until next time: Be strong. Love God. Love others.
