As I leave town I thank God for how He has gotten me through this past month. I have been at the small base of Camp Geiger, NC for the month of February continuing my initial Marine Corps training at MCT (Marine Combat Training). It has been crazy. The worst part of it all was the weather. We all froze our tails off a majority of the time and it was absolutely miserable. I couldn’t help but be thankful for the rough conditions and physically demanding times but at the same time think of how much I hated the position I was in. But my pain was a very little thing compared to the sufferings of my Savior Jesus Christ.
I think of the hymn, “Oh How He Loves You and Me” and how the love of Christ overpowers every other thing in life.
Oh how He loves you and me.
Oh how He loves you and me.
He gave His life,
What more could He give?
Oh how He loves you.
Oh how He loves me.
Oh how He loves you and me.
He gave His life. What more could He give?
Nothing.
My so called sufferings are nothing compared to what my Savior went through. That thought helped me through the rough times knowing that my body will never endure what my Savior went through, so I can rejoice as Paul did in Philippians 4:4. I could go on….
Learning how to use a number of weapons made MCT really cool. For the most part we were treated like Marines and not recruits and it continued our transition into the fleet. We ate a ton of MREs (Meal Ready to Eat) which very quickly got old. I used to eat them as a kid but that is all in the past…
There is a bunch to say but I’m pulling a blank so ending it here might be best.
So what’s next? Well I’m headed up to VA for my MOS school as I post this this where I will be for five weeks. After five weeks I will be bussed back to Greenville where I check in to my Reserve unit and carry on.
That’s it for now. Leave comments if you have questions. Please continue to pray for spiritual strength and that my heart will be prepared for camp this summer. I am stoked!
