Now that The Basic School (TBS) is behind us, we are back at ammo school in Fort Lee (now Gregg-Adams), VA. It has been over 11 years since I have been here and it feels weird. When I look at the new Marines coming through, it brings back memories of our time at ammo school many moons ago. We were young, bright-eyed and bushy tailed, extremely into drill movements, and judgmental of the Soldiers we saw each day.
This time is much different. Obviously I am a Marine Warrant Officer, but also tenure in the Marine Corps makes the experience dissimilar. There is prior experience brought to the school house. There is also freedom of movement and thinking. Plus, I’ve not done close-order drill in a while. It is good to be out of TBS and learning my craft. Just a few short weeks and I will be back in the Reserve life.
What does Reserve life entail exactly? In short, I will be rejoining the Greenville Ammo unit and head back to my civilian job in Tennessee. Many thanks and huge shoutout to my leaders at Ramsey Solutions for hiring me and supporting my military duties! It feels nice to be appreciated and supported in this way. Looking forward to returning to a place worth working for.
Although I will be done with ammo school at the end of June, I won’t be headed into work right away. I have already put in paid time off and will be returning to work on July 5th. Until then, I need to unwind and take a vacation. A Disney Cruise Line vacation has been on the table, but I am also open to vacation ideas. Anybody have some good vacation ideas? I do have a passport so location is not a big issue. Let’s hear it!
Thank you again for all who have followed this wild ride over the years, months, weeks, and days (whichever applies). I truly appreciate the support and the prayers. One thing on my mind worth praying about is wisdom in my new role as a Marine Officer. Things are different now. My character and personality isn’t different, but the role, responsibilities, and expectations are different. Looking forward to the challenge. Until next time: Be strong. Love God. Love others.
