Unprayed Prayers

4 minutes

Truly, there is power in prayer. I’ve found myself filled with many thoughts across a vast spectrum of subjects. Whether it be about where we’re headed for Christmas, working toward purchasing a house, friends and family with health concerns, Marine Corps administrative tasks, or an upcoming vacation, I think a lot. At work we might write it off as being “High C” which is actually true for me (referring to the DISC profile). Commuting to work grants me the opportunity to bring these thoughts, concerns, and requests to God. Sometimes, however, I find myself laying it out there first thing saying, “God, I’ve got a lot of thoughts and I have no clue what I’m about to say. You know my thoughts, and though I may wander, please answer even my unprayed prayers in a way only You can.” God is faithful even when I word vomit.

Some of these thoughts include my dear friend, Holly, who has been going through a health concern no-one expected. Our lead pastor has undergone surgery and is recovering. God has been good and has delivered miracles even this week! It’s health concerns such as these that we are fervently praying for. Keep them in your prayers! I am trying to buy a house in this market, trying to settle Marine Corps administrative tasks, and probably going to be taking classes to complete a graduate certificate. The theme of all this? Remember that God is in control and I can only control that which I can control. Trust God, work through the process, and keep moving forward.

Can you tell there are a few things going on?

Something cool that happened since the last post was our company cigar night. We have one of these at least once a quarter. Networking with people we may otherwise never see makes these events worth it. Plus, the company pays for dinner. Always a great time! This particular event was special because our CEO, Dave Ramsey, invited all confirmed team members to his new event barn at the farm. I am grateful for his invitation and was awed by the new space. Dave and I chatted for a few minutes and he even offered me a cigar from his private collection. Company events like these are very cool.

A couple weeks ago I attended my first drill weekend back at the Greenville unit. We had an extended field drill at Fort Jackson where it was miserably hot. A lot of tasks got done and some did not, but things like that happen and the troops still got some training done. I am proud of the Marines I’ve watched grow up in the unit, diversify their experience, and return with perspective and added training value. When it is my turn to depart, I trust these Marines to take care of the troops and accomplish the mission.

My birthday was this month. It was celebrated alongside the Marines, but nobody knew it was my birthday except a couple of guys. On our way back to Greenville we stopped for coffee (perks of being an Officer now) where I used my Starbucks birthday reward for a breakfast wrap (not worth it). The rest of the day was working toward release and driving all the way home. Cheers to 33 years!

This past Friday our company hosted the 14th annual Battle of the Bands competition. Run by, performed by, hosted by team members, the talent within Ramsey Solutions is pretty incredible. My favorite band this year was a repeat band (technically against the rules) that got away with repeating by adding “again” to their name. They were called Make Ramsey Dave Again. . . Again. This was a country band that played all sorts of classics. What a time to be alive.

Now I am headed to the airport for a trip to an undisclosed location. Just follow me on social media and I’ll probably end up posting where I’m at. Any guesses?

Thank you to the ones who made it this far. Thank you to the prayer warriors and to friends and family. Please pray for Holly and our pastor. Pray for safe travels and health on this trip. Please also pray for my first-time home buying process. God’s in control and I’m excited to see Him do a work. Until next time: Be strong. Love God. Love others.

rejoice.always
