Home

Home. Some say it’s where the heart is. Maybe home is where mom is making homemade cinnamon rolls. Or maybe home is where you were born. I never really had a “home”, so to speak, because my dad was in the Marines and we moved a lot. The hardest question to answer growing up was where I was from. Do you mean where did I just move here from? Do you mean where was I born? Do you mean my nationality? Military kids get used to it and always have to clarify with the one asking. As an adult I have found it easiest to call North Carolina home. I love North Carolina and it’s where I have collectively lived the longest. Although, home is currently Florida since it is where I am working. So home is where the job is. I have made it home.

After ten months of being away with the Marines, I have made it back to Florida. It feels a little weird being back, but I am happy to be here. A few weeks ago I was on leave and got to move in to my new apartment. Praise the Lord for my apartment being ready! My friends from Disney were able to help me out with moving my stuff from storage back into my new place (shout-out to Mike and Joey!). After several deliveries and a couple trips to IKEA, I had pretty much everything required to call this apartment home. If you’re in the area and need a place to crash, hit me up!

I went back up to Greenville to finish my orders where I was also able to see family again. We went to a couple of Salem Red Sox games and relaxed the whole weekend. While in Greenville I also got to see the Greenville Drive play. It was a great experience!

I really did not have a lot of work left to do with the Marines so I ended up leaving early. What a deal! I flew from Greenville to Orlando this past Friday and now working on getting back to work within the next couple of weeks.

After work starts I will pretty much be back to the same grind. As a member of the Armed Forces called up to duty, I am covered under laws that allow me to go back to the same place of employment doing the same thing I was doing. I am working with someone from HR to get back into work and find out if my location will remain the same. The past ten months I have been on a Military Leave of Absence.

Now that I am back in Florida I am looking forward to doing some of the fun things that Walt Disney World has to offer. One of the things I am most looking forward to is going to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party. Christmas is my favorite holiday so it will be a lot of fun. I know it might be too early to be talking about Christmas, but I missed last Christmas so stop hating. The other thing I am looking forward to doing is the train tour offered at the Magic Kingdom. It is a tour of the steam trains and roundhouse as they prepare for the day. Gotta get it in before the train closes for Tron construction!

Well, I think that’s it for now. Other than all the moving hoopla, there really isn’t that much going on over here. Thank you to those who have prayed for me over the last ten months and continue to do so. Thank you for praying with me about my apartment being ready on time too! Be sure to come visit me soon! Until next time: Be strong. Love God. Love others.
